Lu Lu Bear holds no grudges

19 October 2008

Lu Lu Bear and her snuggly hubby Dada Bear needed a night out on the town and wanted to support the arts around Huckleberry Creek. It was Lu Lu Bear’s time to shine because she had some of her best cave drawings on display for the first time in a big way in front of the cultured crowd of Foggy Hollow.

Lu Lu Bear was thinking how much fun this would be to hubbub with buyers of fine bear art so she combed her fur in a stylish flourish, put on her favorite pearls and attached to her bear claws the prettiest red roses she could find down by Huckleberry Creek.

Dada Bear was looking fine in his black tuxedo. He spends more time than Lu Lu Bear climbing up and down the mountains looking for roots and berries and he looks better for doing the hard work. Lu Lu Bear has a bum hip which has kept her in the shadows of her den in the thick of the woods licking her wounds for a long while now. Dada Bear is one handsome speciman of a bear and Lu Lu Bear is very proud of him but always a bit wary of other female bears coming uncomfortably close to her one and only mate of 32 years.

The first bear Lu Lu Bear met was Come On Now Bear who happens to be the best artful bear in the bushes. This was her idea to host an art show to raise money for the purpose of helping up and coming bears in the arts, and to keep the cave open for well established arty bears. She invited all the cultured bears out for an evening, serving brie with croissants and raspberries dipped into salal liquors on the side.

Come On Now Bear introduced herself right away to Lu Lu Bear and explained with much dignity that she was the person in charge of the Bear Institute of Ingenuity. Lu Lu Bear had heard nice things said about Come On Now Bear and was pleased to enjoy the introduction at long last.

All the bears were savoring the stars out so bright that night, the whisp of the nightime breezes and the company of fellow lovers of fine art. Everyone was looking forward to dinner and dancing.

Lu Lu Bear knew Dada Bear was off to her right, sipping his strawberry champagne as she stood there leaning on her cane. Ou of nowhere she noticed Come On Now Bear approach her treasured Dada Bear directly with a less than professional tease, “You are looking dapper tonight…”

Now Lu Lu Bear is nobody’s fool and decided to see where this conversation was going. Actually, it didn’t go anywhere, just a few more openers, expecting this handsome bear to respond affectionately to her in return.

Thats when Dada Bear noted his favorite mating bear was an artist herself and “her work was over there”. Come On Now Bear kept a striaght face and closed the conversation immediately, knowing Lu Lu Bear was overhearing everything.

So Come On Now Bear made a quick, cursory, [verrrrry quick], visit to Lu Lu Bear’s fine cave art and then disappeared into the crowd without another word said.

Lu Lu Bear doesn’t really worry about any other Bear taking away her DaDa Bear and holds no bad feelings towards Come On Now Bear. In fact she commends her for wanting to know the best looking bear on the floor of the cave that evening.

Lu Lu Bear remembers sweetly how she used that very same approach when she met her Dada Bear back when she was young and voluptious. She was searching for the perfect bear to share her den with forever and ever and so she made it a point to sit down next to him at these meetings.

Lu Lu Bear encourages Come On Now Bear to keep looking and one of these days a fine looking bear will be all hers too. She is certain Come On Now Bear has high standards. Lu Lu Bear commends her for such good taste in fine looking bears.

She just wishes Come On Now Bear could have at least spent the same amount of time looking at Lu Lu Bear’s art as she did flirting with DaDa Bear. That would have been the polite thing to do. But Lu Lu Bear holds no grudges.
